The Cove Quilt pattern is now available as a PDF download! This quilt pattern comes in three sizes – wall hanging, baby, and throw.
This quilt pattern combines two of my favorite piecing techniques in quilting – curves and half-square triangles. Many quilters are familiar with half-square triangles because they are so common in patterns and simple to make. However, curves may be more challenging.
Learning how to sew curves while quilt piecing is a great skill that enables versatility and unique designs in quilts. Although curves can seem intimidating at first, they are for every sewist and can easily be learned with a bit of time and patience. Another skill development in this pattern is matching up seems for perfect points from half square triangles. This can be tricky in some matching spots because the slant from the triangle does not easily give away where to pin your seam. However, by following the fabric ¼” in, pointy points can be achieved. The pattern directions will guide you through matching up seams.
